Telefonica Deploys InvisibleHand's Merkato; Launches `IP on Demand,' Automatic Real-Time Market System for IP Bandwidth
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2003--Invisible Hand Networks, Inc. today announced that Telefonica International Wholesale Services will utilize the Merkato(TM) software platform for IP On Demand, a new service offering that will allow customers to purchase IP bandwidth on demand. The service is initially being made available in Amsterdam, London and Miami.

Telefonica will use InvisibleHand's Merkato software platform to create a dynamic marketplace that will provide customers with the ability to purchase IP bandwidth with complete flexibility. Bandwidth purchased through IP On Demand will by priced at dynamic market prices and provisioned automatically in real-time, creating significant advantages in a highly competitive market.

InvisibleHand's Merkato platform enables a demand-based marketplace that automates price discovery and negotiation, leveraging patented market mechanisms. Transactions can be made manually or automatically through intelligent software agents, according to each customer's needs. IP capacity is allocated in real-time in as little as five minute increments.

"IP On Demand is unleashing an unparalleled mechanism to capture market demand for wholesale Internet services -- a win-win for Telefonica and its customers. We are very excited to be enabling this innovation with the Merkato platform", said Nemo Semret, Chairman of Invisible Hand Networks.

Telefonica plans on leveraging the new service to capture new customers and provide a value-added service to existing customers. Telefonica is one of the largest telecommunications carriers in the world, and covers 80% of the world's Spanish speaking countries.
